Manhattan’s March of Dimes March for Babies – a great way to see midtown

Visiting Manhattan is one of my favorite getaways, which I often do being that I live only 40 minutes away from the Big Apple. I have spent many weekends visiting museums, seeing Broadway shows, shopping throughout the borough and enjoying great food.

One of my favorite times of the year is participating in the March of Dimes walkathon with a small team of colleagues from work.  Generally around the April time frame, our team at NJ Met Inc will assemble at 10 Lincoln Center — 62nd St. between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenue at 8:30am where we all meet for coffee and treats prior to the walk. At 10 am sharp, the 3 1/2 mile walk begins at Lincoln Center and continues throughout Central Park and down Lexington Avenue heading toward downtown Manhattan. It is a great day to walk for a great cause while meeting new friends and acquaintances to share stories of their charity endeavors while watching people window shopping on Lexington Avenue. Midway through the walk, our team will stop at the Pershing Square diner across from Grand Central Station for a quick snack before continuing the walk.

With national sponsors such as Macy’s, Kmart, Famous Footwear, and CIGNA, the money that is raised by the March of Dimes funds important research and programs that help babies begin healthy lives. We have had the privilege to participate in the past with NFL football greats such as Joe Namath and Eli Manning. All in all, it promises to be a fun day out with people who share a passion for improving the health of babies.  #whyiwalk

Here are a couple of pictures from last year’s walk.
